About me

If I looked back on the food I used to love to eat as a kid I'd faint. I wanted hotdogs, chicken sauté, fudge sundae pop-tarts, frozen waffles, Cheez-Its, and the list could go on and on. Growing up with a health-conscious mom, I was forwarded many emails regarding the processed foods that we were eating and I was unfazed by them until I started becoming self-conscious about my face acne and body shape. As early as third grade, I would always compare my body shape to those around me and I wanted desperately to destroy those feelings of discontent. I ventured upon my mom's forwarded emails from The FoodBabe, Vani Hari, and to my astonishment, her articles contained powerful information that introduced me to the world of nutrition, GMO's and food politics. Soon enough, my boxes of Cheerios and frozen Eggo waffles, followed by every other food with corrupt ingredients were out of my pantry. It took a while to accustom to this new, permanent diet and to learn how to eat out with friends and family- but the sacrifice was well worth it.

This lifestyle transformation helped me recognize how important it is to be self-aware and to have a skeptical mind, as well as how exciting and satisfying it is to make your own food. Cooking and baking became my forms of stress-relief during the school year and personal time to take my mind off the fact-paced life around me.

After four years of a more wholesome lifestyle and increasing knowledge of nutrition and recipe development, I felt healthier and stronger than ever. When I turned seventeen, I was required to watch three documentaries in AP Biology about environmental sustainability, animal agriculture, and dairy farms. A few weeks later, still in shock about the atrocities that animal agriculture had on the environment and our health, I made the most difficult change that I had ever made into a vegan. With further research, I couldn't have been happier with the decision I made; I was supporting animal rights, my environment, and my health.

I have found beautiful ways to incorporate my Gujarati roots, Bollywood fandom, and love for wholesome foods into Indian vegan cooking as well. Planning my meals, thinking about new recipes, and sharing them on my Instagram/this page is what I love to do!
